Looking ahead to the sunny season fast approaching, Unibroue is once more breaking new ground by launching the latest Éphémère Baie d’argousier. This addition to the Éphémère range features a little known hardy orange berry that gives it a perfectly balanced flavour that’s both tart and bitter, making it a perfect summer refreshment. To all fans’ delight, the Éphémère Baie d’argousier is now available, and for a limited time only, in a variety of formats (750 ml, 6 x 341 ml and on tap).

“Unibroue brews Éphémère beers and showcases local Québec products since 2000. To mark the Éphémère’s 20th edition, we wanted to work with an unusual fruit whose complexity would impart a bright and light taste to the beer. The Éphémère Baie d’argousier’s aromatic profile is complex, and reveals exquisite citrus, pineapple and passion fruit notes. This extraordinary harmony of tastes will excite your taste buds,” explains Unibroue’s master brewer, Jerry Vietz.

According to the brewery’s beer sommelier, Sylvain Bouchard, sea buckthorn’s acidity pairs perfectly with oysters, pan-fried foie gras, lemon chicken, goat cheese, halloumi and baklava. “The new Éphémère Baie d’argousier is great mixed in a cocktail, like a reinvented sangria, and works well in a variety of summer grilling recipes, including marinated salmon,” he said.

THE ÉPHÉMÈRE STORY

As the name implies, the Éphémère beers are bright and ephemeral, coming and going with the seasons. They appear in spring, then slowly disappear, before making a comeback the next spring, featuring a new iconic fruit of Québec. It comes in a variety of flavours that celebrate local fruits: apple, cranberry, raspberry, cherry, pear, blueberry, elderberry, strawberry & rhubarb and blackcurrant. In 2020, the brewery has offered consumers a new offering by introducing a sea buckthorn-flavoured Éphémère.
