Raftman Maple Pinwheels
Serves 6 to 8

Cook time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
- 1½ cup maple syrup
- 1 cup Raftman beer
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1½ cup flour
- 1 pinch of salt
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Bring maple syrup and beer to a boil in a saucepan and let simmer on low heat for 3 minutes. Set aside.
- Mix shortening, flour, and salt in a bowl until crumbly. Gradually blend in milk. Shape dough into a ball. On a work surface that has been lightly coated with flour, roll out dough until it is about ¼-inch thick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with maple sugar, then roll up tightly. Cut roll crosswise into 1-inch wide slices.
- Pour syrup into a baking dish and place dough slices on top. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden.
